The Woodcutter and the Parrot
In a dense forest, a poor farmer was cutting down an old tree with his big axe. As the farmer prepared to return home, a parrot flew in and posed on his right arm. Though married, the poor man had no children. As such, he took the parrot to his hut to take care of him. He properly fed the parrot, gave him to drink and treated him with love and tenderness. Eventually, the farmer and the parrot became inseparable friends. Every day, the bird impatiently waited for the return of the farmer and, at his sight, welcomed him with shouts of joy.
On day, and in a hole of the old oak tree, the farmer found a small box full of gold pieces. The gold made him rich. As a consequence, and along with his friend the parrot, the farmer moved to a beautiful house. The farmer had a wife. But she was ugly and malicious. In her head, the wife had one thought and one thought only: (To take the money from her husband and to give it to her parents).
One day, and in the presence of the parrot, she asked her brother Mecho to kill her husband in his sleep. The parrot heard her repetitively say: (Tonight, my husband will die in his bed). Having understood her criminal intentions, the parrot impatiently waited for his friend’s return to warm him.
Doubting nothing, the farmer returned home from work. The instant he arrived, the parrot posed on his shoulder and started repeating the following words: (The farmer will be killed tonight in his bed).
The words of the parrot surprised the farmer. Puzzled, the man was thoughtful! Late at night, Mecho, the brother-in-law, plunged his sword several times in the (shape) similar to a body, hidden under the sheets. Naturally, the farmer was not in his bed. Hiding behind the curtain, he saw Mecho, the criminal.
The farmer handed over his wife Vila and his brother-in-law Mecho to the policeman who took them to the station. After ridding himself of his malicious wife, the farmer lived happily ever after with his parrot, who had saved his life.
